i enjoyed the fresh snowfall with my nephew during the first storm of the season. being only three years old, he’s pretty new to the stuff.

so we picked the perfect day to do our photo shoot! we had snow!
these two are amazing at jumping which, as has been scientifically proven, means they will have an amazing marriage.

A lovely, freshly minted married couple took a walk in the woods; and I took their photos.

in spite of the rainy weather, thanh and randy had a beautiful wedding! the wedding party was full of seventeen of their closest friends, bright and vibrant in color and personalty! it was an honor to shoot their fall-time wedding & i can’t wait to start their album!

i love making lovely things. along with their photos and invitations, mike and katie requested one 13×9 wedding album and two 8×11 parent albums. i loved working on invitations and albums together! the thing that really excites me is the idea of having all the visual elements of the wedding flow together. they had a summer wedding that featured sunflowers, so i created everything around a sunflower pallet: a bright yellow, a chartreuse green and a chocolate brown.
i made the invitation with a layered #10 card using custom sunflower art. because i can only do flat printing, i added some texture and depth by using luxe, textured paper and layering the cream printed card on yellow cardstock. the invitation envelopes had a printed motif and return address, and the thank-you envelopes featured a lovely bookbinding paper liner. i love printed envelopes with liners! ahh.
mike and katie also asked me to design the cover for their cookbook wedding favor, so i used the sunflower from the invitation, they looked great on the tables!
the albums were hand-bound, and it was really tricky to figure out how to bind the text block while avoiding gutter problems, but eventually i figured out a good binding technique. to add a few sweet details to the parent albums, i included a small envelope with some wallet photos and a copy of the invitation.
and, of course, packaging! I wrapped the books up in brown tissue paper sealed with a fine sticker, placed them in a white box wrapped with green ribbon and a brown bow and finished it off with another fine sticker! hurray! i wish you all could see it in real life!

mike & katie are one of the loveliest couples i know! i took photos at their wedding in july and had the pleasure of making their invitations, the cover for their awesome cookbook wedding favor, and their wedding albums. keep checking back: i’ll be posting some shots of their invites and albums.

i’ve always enjoyed andrew bird’s music; his new album, noble beast, is outstanding. anonanimal is my favorite song – at least from the songs featured on his myspace {www.myspace.com/andrewbird}. there is something so sultry and melancholy about his songs that fits so well on a damp fall day.
i also am a big fan of his album art:
